This example demonstrates how How to create shadow in Android Buttons.

Step 1  − Create a new project in Android Studio, go to File ⇒ New Project and fill all required details to create a new project.

Step 2  − Add the following code to res/layout/activity_main.xml.

      android:layout_height="wrap_content"

      app:layout_constraintLeft_toLeftOf="parent"
      app:layout_constraintRight_toRightOf="parent"
      app:layout_constraintTop_toTopOf="parent" />
   <Button

      android:layout_marginTop="20dp"
      android:width="200dp"
      android:layout_gravity="center"
      android:text="Shadow Button"
      android:background="@drawable/shadow_button_layer_list"/>
</androidx.constraintlayout.widget.ConstraintLayout>

Step 3  − Add the following code to src/MainActivity.java

   protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
      super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);

Step 4  − Add the following code to res/drawable/shadow_button_layer_list.xml

<layer-list xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">

   <item android:left="3dp" android:top="5dp">
      <shape>
         <solid android:color="@android:color/darker_gray" />

      </shape>
   </item>
   <!-- White foreground. -->
   <item android:bottom="5dp" android:right="3dp">
      <shape>
         <solid android:color="@android:color/white" />
         <corners android:radius="15dp" />
      </shape>
   </item>
</layer-list>

Step 5  − Add the following code to Manifests/AndroidManifest.xml

      android:icon="@mipmap/ic_launcher"

</manifest>

Let's try to run your application. I assume you have connected your actual Android Mobile device with your computer. To run the app from android studio, open one of your project's activity files and Click Run
 Icon from the toolbar. Select your mobile device as an option and then check your mobile device which will display your default screen –
